The Bible's sense of direction can be confusing for many. For example, when it talks about "the kings of the south," it's understandable that this means nations south of Israel, particularly Egypt and Cush. But the "kings of the north" are tricky. The moniker usually refers to nations like Babylon and Persia. These nations are a bit north but far to the east of Israel. They are identified with the north because between Israel and cities like Babylon and Ur is the vast Arabian desert. In order to get from Babylon to Jerusalem, armies had to travel northwest to Syria and then march from the north to Jerusalem.
I'm told the Bible says nothing about what latitude Christ-followers should inhabit now. So the fact that I am currently at latitude 39 degrees north in
Kansas, and the boss and his wife are currently at latitude 19.54 degrees north in
Kona, Hawaii, is not a biblical issue. Biblical issues do, however, include
attitudes like envy, jealousy, and spite. Which are bad at any latitude.
At least he's bringing me coffee.
