So, I see this one and I says to myself, I says, Oh, easy! Just make up something about the Sims MPG having a religion! Then I figure I'll ask my sister, who
knows things, to write it, and she says, Well, yeah. The Sims
does have religion.
I'm beginning to wonder if the question is really an autocorrect.
Basically, I guess, two different sects worship a deity called "The Watcher." The sect of the Jacobans think the Watcher is angry and vengeful and his worshipers have to obey or be punished. The sect of the Peterans think the Watcher is loving and wants his worshipers to be happy. Total
Marcionism stuff.
Then there's the faction Ecclesiarchy which is kind of a church and kind of a college that was formed out the Union of the Insane. They study science and magic and try to control the Romance Heresy.
It's all very odd. There may or may not be a god or gods but no one really knows because it/they don't
do anything. So, groups form around a philosophy of what they think the god/gods are like, create social groups, make up rules, give money, and identify with the sect.
So, is there a Jesus in the Sims? Why yes, there is. One is a sacred heart-type digital statue that you can buy for 10410. It can come in different colors. It has been purchased 5566 times since its creation in June 2021.
Did this Jesus die for the Sims? Well, a statue can't die, but apparently there's a t-shirt out there called "Jesus Died For Your Sims" and shows a Jesus-like figure standing before a bunch of Sims with his arms reaching out.
And there may or may not be a Mormon Jesus.
I just can't. I mean, the whole religion thing would make for an interesting sociological study—Why would you add religion to an imaginary world? How is religion important for cultural/social/political development? But the amount of effort put into it and the identification people have with these digital belief systems are hurting my brain. And I do know that atheists think something similar about us.
Fortunately, the God of the universe is real. Jesus is real. And although He didn't die for the Sims, He did
die for our sins.
Even the sin of making Him into a digital garden statue.
