Hair is a musical from the 1960s about hippies in the East Village and their experiences with romantic entanglements, drugs, the war protest, and young people dying in Vietnam.
RENT is a musical about artists in the East Village and their experience with romantic entanglements, drugs, protests against rent hikes, and young people dying of AIDS.
Hair-RENT is a mash-up musical about a investment bankers in Wichita and their experiences with romantic entanglements, drugs, and young internet startups dying of denial of service attacks.
Because of the pandemic, tours of
Hair-RENT have been performed in large tents, not indoor theaters. The troupe acts much like a circus, arriving late at night, setting up in the morning, doing a matinee and a late show, and disappearing that night. The system has become home to a strange phenomenon. People have been using the tents as a kind of mobile geo-cache. They'll leave something in the tent—perhaps taped under a chair or in the fold of the canvas—for someone else to find later down the line.
But we would not recommend a parent leave something in
Hair-RENT tents for a child. It's unwise, actually, to leave something for any specific person. The troupe doesn't post a schedule, and there's no certainty the message or gift will reach the intended recipient.
A good alternative is to invest in the musical. It's sure to continue for decades to come and make a good addition to your
kids' inheritance.
